Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure the supply and delivery of chainsaws that meet specified technical standards, ensuring reliable equipment for municipal use. The procurement aims to obtain quality chainsaws at competitive prices, adhering to local content and B-BBEE requirements, while ensuring compliance with municipal policies and regulations.

Scope

The scope encompasses the supply and delivery of specified petrol chainsaws, including models such as MS 382 and MS 462 (or similar approved brands), with guide bars and chains. The procurement covers the entire process from order placement to delivery at designated municipal sites, including necessary documentation, compliance, and warranty provisions.

Technical Requirements

• Chainsaw models must be petrol-powered, with specifications including:
  • Sound levels: approximately 106 dB(A) to 118 dB(A)
  • Weight: around 7.17 to 7.70 kg
  • Guide bar length and chain compatibility as specified
• Chainsaws must be new, unused, and incorporate recent design and material improvements.
• Equipment must be compliant with relevant safety and performance standards.
• Suppliers must provide warranties, manuals, and spare parts as required.
• Delivery must adhere to specified timelines and conditions outlined in the contract.

Skills and Qualification Requirements

• Suppliers must be registered on the Knysna Municipality’s Accredited Supplier Database and the Central Supplier Database (CSD).
• Bidder must demonstrate tax compliance by submitting a valid Tax Clearance Certificate.
• Suppliers should have a valid CIDB registration appropriate for the scope of supply.
• Experience in supplying similar equipment and proven track record in municipal or large-scale procurement is preferred.
• Bidder representatives must be authorized to sign declarations and submissions on behalf of the company.
• Knowledge of procurement regulations, preferential procurement policies, and compliance with BBBEE levels is required.
