Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply and deliver timber materials as specified by the Knysna Municipality. The aim is to procure quality timber products in accordance with the municipality’s requirements, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with relevant procurement policies.

Scope

The scope includes the supply and delivery of various timber materials, including different sizes and lengths of structural timber, as detailed in the pricing summary. The materials are intended for municipal projects and must meet specified standards and specifications outlined in the tender documents.

Technical Requirements

• Supply of timber in specified dimensions and quantities (e.g., 114 x 38 x 4.8m, 228 x 50 x 4.8m, etc.).
• Timber must be new, unused, and of the latest or current models, incorporating recent design and material improvements.
• All goods must be free from defects arising from design, materials, or workmanship, valid for 12 months post-delivery or 18 months post-shipment.
• Delivery must be in accordance with the contract terms, including proper packing, marking, and documentation.
• Suppliers must comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and municipal requirements, including tax and municipal account clearances.
• Inspection, testing, and analyses may be conducted to ensure compliance with contract specifications, with costs borne by the supplier if non-compliance is found.

Skills and Competency Requirements

• Proven experience in supplying timber or similar building materials.
• Registration with CIDB (Construction Industry Development Board) with valid registration and a minimum of 90 days validity remaining.
• Ability to provide certified copies of tax clearance certificates, B-BBEE status verification, municipal accounts, and other compliance documentation.
• Knowledge of municipal procurement policies, Preferential Procurement Regulations 2022, and supply chain management practices.
• Capacity to deliver goods within specified timeframes and handle logistics efficiently.
• Ability to provide technical support, including on-site supervision, installation, and after-sales services if required.
