Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply and install a laundry washing machine at Osindisweni Hospital, including removal of the existing machine. The project aims to ensure the hospital's laundry operations are supported with a suitable, efficient, and compliant washing machine that meets specified technical standards and standards for quality and safety.

Scope

The scope encompasses the procurement, delivery, installation, and commissioning of a 36kg capacity laundry washing machine. It also includes providing a comprehensive five-year service and maintenance agreement post-installation, as well as the removal of the existing machine. The scope extends to ensuring the machine complies with technical specifications, standards, and safety requirements as detailed in the tender documents.

Technical Requirements

• The washing machine must have a capacity of at least 36kg dry weight, with a drum volume of 360 liters or more.
• The machine must include a programmable control panel with a minimum of 40 wash cycles.
• Reversing washing action at approximately 36 RPM that prevents tangling.
• Pre-extraction load balancing at approximately 75 RPM to minimize unbalance.
• Automatic low-speed extraction (~235 RPM) during drainage to remove excess water and reduce vibration.
• Final high-speed extraction (~500 RPM) providing at least 106 g's of centrifugal force.
• The machine must be fitted with dual water inlets of 50mm or greater diameter and a large outlet drain of 75mm diameter.
• Dimensions: approximately 1093mm x 1163mm x 1440mm.
• Operation on 380V, 3-phase, 50Hz electrical supply.
• Constructed with high-grade stainless steel, including the outer casing and drum perforations of at least 3mm diameter.
• Equipped with vibration safety shut-off that reduces extraction speed if excessive vibration occurs.
• Door interlock system with stainless steel door frame, with a minimum diameter of 470mm for easy loading/unloading.
• The machine must be fitted with a belt-driven drive system attached to a 21KW inverter-driven motor with CE and SABS approval.

Skills Requirements

Suppliers and installers must demonstrate:

• Technical expertise in the supply, installation, and commissioning of industrial laundry washing machines.
• Experience in handling high-capacity laundry equipment, including compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Capability to provide comprehensive after-sales service, including maintenance, repairs, and technical support for a five-year period.
• Knowledge of local standards (SABS, SANS) and compliance with technical specifications outlined in the tender.
• Ability to remove existing equipment and ensure minimal disruption to hospital laundry operations.
