Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply, deliver, and off-load large dry pine shavings that provide a clean, comfortable, and absorbent surface suitable for the wellbeing of JMPD Services' horses. The shavings must support the physical health and comfort of the animals.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Provision of large dry pine shavings over a 12-month period or as required.
• Delivery and off-loading at specified locations, ensuring proper packaging and handling.
• Submission of samples for evaluation prior to full supply.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications for the pine shavings are as follows:

• Must be suitable for bedding, providing a clean, absorbent surface for horses.
• Packaging must protect the shavings from weather, fumes, and harmful chemicals during transit and storage.
• All deliveries should be packed in suitable containers that prevent bursting or mould due to moisture.
• Samples must be clearly marked with company details and contact information for evaluation.

Skills and Qualifications Requirements

Suppliers must demonstrate:

• Ability to supply large quantities of pine shavings consistently over the contract period.
• Compliance with packaging, delivery, and storage standards.
• Provision of samples for quality assessment.
• Adherence to occupational health and safety regulations.
• Registration and accreditation with relevant bodies, including the City of Johannesburg supplier database and, if applicable, SETA accreditation, CIDB registration, or health certificates for catering suppliers.
• Submission of all required forms, including declaration of interest, past SCM practices, independent bid determination, and preference points claim.
