Objectives

The primary objective is to supply and install a stand-alone desktop public address (PA) system at the Patient Administration Office (Admitting Counter) of Newcastle Regional Hospital. The system will enable admitting personnel to efficiently call patients to the front desk.

Scope of Work

The contractor will deliver a complete, operational PA setup within a one-week contract period. Responsibilities include delivering all specified equipment, installing the amplifier, ceiling speakers, desktop microphone, and cabling, conducting system testing, and adjusting audio levels. Upon completion, the contractor must restore the work area to its original condition. All work must adhere to strict occupational health and safety standards, including the submission and approval of a site-specific safety plan prior to commencement.

Technical Requirements

• Equipment must be brand new, SABS/SANS approved, and have a minimum shelf life of six months.
• Specific components: TOA A 260 60W amplifier, three TOA PC 1865 ceiling speakers, one desktop PM660U paging microphone, and fifty units of 1mm ripcord white cable.
• The system must undergo full functional testing and volume calibration.
• Pricing is fixed for ninety days and structured as a remeasurable bill, meaning payment corresponds to actual quantities installed. No contract variations will be accepted.
• A minimum twelve-month warranty is mandatory for all supplied and installed components.

Skills and Experience Requirements

• Contractors must hold a valid CIDB Grade SF certification.
• Demonstrated experience of five to seven years in the installation and maintenance of PA systems is required.
• Submission of proof of past performance, including at least one order and a completion certificate for similar projects, is mandatory.
• Bidders must be registered on the Central Suppliers Database (CSD) and comply with all standard bidding documentation requirements.
• Successful bidders must provide a valid B-BBEE certificate or sworn affidavit.
