Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply materials and construct a casualty waiting area at GJ Crookes Hospital, ensuring the provision of a functional, safe, and compliant space that meets the specified scope of work and quality standards.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Supply of all necessary materials, including approved and compliant components such as glass partitions, aluminum supports, flooring, ceiling, lighting, and doors.
• Construction of a 100 square meter casualty waiting area, including demolition of existing paving, building waterproofed and tiled walls, installing partitions, doors, roofing, windows, flooring, ceiling, and lighting.
• Provision of safety files and completion certificates.
• Adherence to specifications outlined in the scope of work and bill of quantities attached to the tender.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements encompass:

• Use of SABS approved materials and compliant construction practices.
• Construction of partitions with 12mm laminated tinted dark gray toughened glass, supported by aluminum profiles.
• Installation of a swing aluminum door with locks, frameless glass windows, and seamless white powder-coated roofing.
• Flooring with 30mm screed and 300x300mm porcelain tiles.
• Suspended ceiling with white frosted panels and 50W LED panel lights.
• All necessary accessories, including ventilation grilles, skirting, trims, and hardware, must be supplied and installed.
• Work must be neat, safe, and minimally disruptive to hospital operations.
• Completion of work with certification and safety documentation prior to handover.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must possess:

• Proven experience in hospital or similar healthcare facility construction projects.
• Competence in handling glass partitioning, aluminum fabrication, waterproofing, tiling, and electrical installations.
• Compliance with safety standards and regulations, including the ability to produce safety files and certificates.
• Qualified personnel with appropriate certifications in construction, electrical work, and safety management.
• Capacity to coordinate site activities efficiently, ensuring minimal disruption to hospital operations.
