Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply materials and construct a casualty waiting area at GJ Crookes Hospital, ensuring a functional and compliant space that meets the specified scope of work and quality standards.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Provision of all necessary materials, including SABS approved items, for building the casualty waiting area.
• Construction of partition walls, walls, flooring, ceiling, doors, windows, and roofing as detailed in the scope of work and bill of quantities.
• Installation of fixtures such as lighting, ventilation grilles, and accessories.
• Site demarcation, safety measures, and ensuring minimal disruption to hospital operations.
• Completion of the project within the specified area of approximately 100 square meters, adhering to safety and quality standards.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Use of SABS approved materials for all construction and finishing works.
• Construction of partition walls using 12mm clear hammer toughened glass with aluminum support profiles (75x75mm Crico or Gen-x bronze).
• Building a waterproofed and tiled wall, and constructing a 210mm thick, 200mm high wall with waterproofing and tiling.
• Installation of aluminium framed frameless glass windows and aluminium swing doors with locks.
• Roofing finished with RBI powder-coated white seamless gutters.
• Floor finished with 30mm screed and 300x300mm pumice tiles.
• Ceiling installed with 1.2x600x9mm suspended white frosted ceiling boards.
• Lighting provided by 50W LED 600x1200 panel lights.
• All necessary accessories, including door frames, locks, ventilation grilles, skirting, and trims, must be supplied and installed.
• Provision of safety files prior to commencement of work.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must possess:

• Proven experience in hospital or similar construction projects, particularly in building waiting areas or partitioned spaces.
• Competence in handling SABS approved materials and adhering to safety standards.
• Capability to execute detailed construction, including glass partitioning, waterproofing, tiling, and ceiling installation.
• Qualified personnel for installation of electrical fixtures and fixtures related to lighting and ventilation.
• Ability to manage site safety, demarcation, and ensure minimal disruption to hospital operations.
• Compliance with all technical specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards outlined in the tender documentation.
