Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure the construction and installation of a non-magnetic hut for magnetometer installation in Tsumeb, Namibia. The project aims to build a 3m x 3m wooden structure using non-magnetic materials, ensuring suitability for sensitive geophysical equipment, and to facilitate the proper setup at the Tsumeb Geophysical Station.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Construction of a standard 3m x 3m wooden hut using only non-magnetic materials such as brass, copper, aluminium, wood, fiber cement, Nu Tec, and concrete.
• Building a concrete floor, roof structure, windows with aluminium frames and PVC burglar bars, a wooden exterior door with brass attachments, and interior/exterior painting.
• Delivery and installation of the structure at the Ministry of Industries, Mines and Energy, Tsumeb Geophysical Station.
• Coordination with SANSA’s project manager, including a briefing on non-magnetic requirements prior to commencement.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications for the structure are as follows:

• Materials must be non-magnetic: brass, copper, aluminium, wood, fiber cement, Nu Tec, or concrete.
• The structure must be 3m x 3m in size, resembling typical huts as per provided images.
• Construction must include a concrete floor, a roof with fiber cement sheets and aluminium roof screws, and appropriate windows and doors with specified non-magnetic fittings.
• All work must be completed after a full briefing and meeting with the SANSA project team.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder should demonstrate:

• Experience in constructing non-magnetic structures suitable for geophysical equipment.
• Technical expertise in working with non-magnetic materials such as brass, copper, aluminium, and specialized construction techniques.
• Capability to coordinate and communicate effectively with SANSA’s project management team.
• Compliance with health, safety, and quality standards relevant to construction in Namibia.
• Ability to deliver and install the structure within the specified timeline (within 1 week after purchase order).
