Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure and supply various types of uniforms and safety footwear for staff at Itshelejuba Hospital, including uniforms for different departments such as pharmacy, mortuary, maintenance, and drivers, as well as safety boots, socks, and specialized workwear (e.g., flame-retardant jackets, overalls). The aim is to ensure staff are equipped with high-quality, compliant, and standardized uniforms and protective gear that meet specified standards and specifications.

Scope

The scope covers the supply and delivery of a wide range of uniforms and safety equipment, including:

• Uniforms for different departments (e.g., pharmacy, mortuary, maintenance, drivers)
• Safety boots and shoes (including steel toe caps, anti-slip, water-resistant)
• Specialized workwear such as flame-retardant jackets, overalls, and reflective safety gear
• Various sizes and specifications as detailed in the annexed technical sheets
• Items to be delivered to Itshelejuba Hospital and associated facilities within specified timeframes

The procurement also includes compliance with the Department of Health standards, specifications, and relevant legislation, including preferential procurement policies.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify that all supplied items must:

• Conform to the detailed specifications provided in the annexures, including fabric type, color, design, and features
• Be of high quality, durable, and compliant with SABS standards where applicable
• Include embroidered or printed Department of Health logos as specified
• Meet the minimum standards for safety, such as steel toe caps for safety boots, anti-slip soles, and flame-retardant properties for certain garments
• Be supplied with samples for approval before final procurement
• Be delivered within the specified contract period, with clear delivery timelines
• Include proper packaging to prevent damage during transit

Skills and Capabilities Requirements

Bidder must demonstrate:

• Proven experience in supplying uniforms and safety gear to healthcare or similar sectors
• Ability to meet technical specifications and quality standards
• Capacity to deliver within the stipulated timeframes and quantities
• Compliance with legal and legislative requirements, including tax compliance and BBBEE status
• Ability to provide samples and technical documentation as required
• Effective logistics and supply chain management skills to ensure timely delivery
• Knowledge of health and safety standards applicable to healthcare uniforms and PPE
