Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a panel of qualified markers to assess examination scripts for SASSETA. The markers will be responsible for ensuring that scripts are marked accurately, consistently, and in accordance with the assessment principles and QCTO requirements. The service aims to support SASSETA in maintaining high standards of assessment and certification for various occupational qualifications.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Marking of Examination/Assessment Scripts for EISA examinations aligned with SASSETA qualifications.
• Providing model answers and marking templates as supplied by SASSETA.
• Scheduling marking sessions and generating overall reports for the qualifications listed.
• Ensuring compliance with assessment principles and standards for specified occupational qualifications.
• Delivering marking services as required until the expiry of the contract in March 2030.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Adherence to assessment principles such as consistency, meticulous judgment, and meeting required standards.
• Experience in assessing or marking for SASSETA or similar environments, including specific qualifications listed in the scope.
• Registration as an assessor or marker for relevant qualifications, with proof of registration and verification (e.g., SAQA verification for international qualifications).
• Provision of detailed quotations inclusive of VAT and other costs, on company letterhead.
• Availability to deliver marking services within specified timeframes and locations, including travel arrangements if outside Gauteng.
• Confidentiality and data protection in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

Skills Requirements

The skills and experience required for markers include:

• Proven experience as an assessor or marker in the occupational qualification areas listed, such as security, policing, correctional services, or related fields.
• Experience in assessing or marking examination scripts, including familiarity with model answer provision and marking templates.
• Ability to demonstrate current active practice and credibility within the relevant sector.
• Knowledge of assessment principles, standards, and quality assurance processes.
• Competence in handling assessment data confidentially and securely.
• For specific qualifications, evidence of relevant training, registration, and verifiable work experience in the respective field.
