Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a service provider responsible for the provision of traffic news reporting for SABC News over a period of three (3) years. The service aims to deliver comprehensive traffic and travel-related information across multiple media platforms, including radio, television, digital, and social media, to inform and support the South African public in their travel decisions.

Scope

The scope of the services includes:

• Providing national traffic and news-related travel information for multiple media outlets under SABC News across South Africa.
• Delivering content in various formats and languages, including multilingualism, suitable for audiences on different platforms.
• Posting traffic news on own social media handles and digital platforms, enabling SABC News to create internal traffic news sites or public traffic feeds.
• Ensuring the traffic information is accessible via the website, mobile app, and social media platforms.
• Creating content that can be transformed into broadcast formats and posted in multiple languages.

The contract duration is three years, with the potential for future phases based on performance and evaluation.

Technical Requirements

• National footprint coverage of traffic and news-related travel information across South Africa.
• Provision of traffic data from sources such as SANRAL, SAPS, emergency services, etc.
• Delivery of professional on-air experience, including presence and audio-visual content via webcam, graphics, and footage through platforms like Zoom or MS Teams.
• Access to traffic information from the bidder’s website and social media platforms, with content formatted for broadcast and digital posting.
• Cost breakdown reflecting all direct and indirect costs associated with service delivery.
• Technical evaluation criteria include national footprint, delivery quality, accessibility, and digital content capabilities.

• Proven experience in traffic news reporting and broadcasting, with professional on-air presentation skills.
• Ability to produce and deliver audio-visual traffic content suitable for live and recorded formats.
• Technical capability to manage and disseminate traffic information across multiple platforms, including social media, websites, and mobile apps.
