Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure a basic Mandarin language course aimed at equipping Brand South Africa employees with foundational Mandarin skills. The course focuses on developing essential vocabulary, pronunciation, and practical grammar to enable effective communication in everyday situations. Additionally, it aims to foster cultural understanding of Mandarin-speaking contexts, including historical and geographical insights, to enhance cultural awareness and professional interactions.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Providing a basic Mandarin language training course for Brand South Africa employees.
• Covering essential vocabulary related to greetings, numbers, names, and nationalities.
• Demonstrating awareness of Chinese language varieties and sound systems (pinyin and tones).
• Explaining simplified and traditional Chinese characters and their combinations.
• Addressing cultural aspects such as professional titles and cultural norms.
• Ensuring proficiency in oral and written grammatical structures and vocabulary.
• Providing cultural, historical, and geographical context relevant to Mandarin language use.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Proof of at least 5 years’ experience in providing basic Mandarin language training, supported by reference letters on client letterhead.
• A detailed budget breakdown for the course delivery.
• Adherence to Brand South Africa’s procurement policies, including evaluation based on price and specific goals.
• Provision of proof of B-BBEE certification or Sworn Affidavit.
• Compliance with confidentiality and organizational guidelines during course delivery.
• Delivery of the course by qualified trainers with relevant experience.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Extensive experience in language training, specifically in Mandarin Chinese.
• Ability to develop and deliver engaging, practical language courses tailored to professionals.
• Strong cultural competence and understanding of Chinese cultural norms and history.
• Proficiency in teaching both oral and written Mandarin, including pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar.
• Effective communication skills to facilitate learning and cultural understanding.
