Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure a basic Mandarin language course tailored for Brand South Africa employees. The course aims to equip participants with essential vocabulary, pronunciation, and practical grammar skills to navigate everyday situations. Additionally, it seeks to foster cultural understanding of Mandarin Chinese, including awareness of language varieties, sound systems, character forms, and relevant cultural and historical contexts.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Providing a course that covers essential Mandarin vocabulary related to greetings, numbers, names, and nationalities.
• Demonstrating awareness of Chinese language varieties and sound systems (pinyin and tones).
• Explaining simplified and traditional Chinese characters and their combinations.
• Addressing the cultural aspects of professional titles and cultural practices.
• Ensuring proficiency in oral and written grammatical structures and vocabulary.
• Incorporating cultural, historical, and geographical knowledge relevant to China.

The training is intended for Brand South Africa employees and will be delivered as a course, with specific deliverables including course content, materials, and assessments.

Technical Requirements

• Provision of proof of experience in basic Mandarin language training, including three reference letters on client letterhead.
• Development of a detailed budget breakdown.
• Adherence to the supply chain management policies and evaluation criteria, including the preference points system (80/20 or 90/10).
• Submission of all required documentation such as B-BBEE certificates or Sworn Affidavits, CSD reports, and proof of experience.
• Pricing must be VAT exclusive for line prices and VAT inclusive for total pricing.
• Work must be conducted under the supervision of a Brand South Africa representative, complying with organizational guidelines and code of conduct.

Skills Requirements

• Proven experience in delivering basic Mandarin language training, supported by reference letters.
• Strong understanding of Mandarin phonetics, tones, and character systems.
• Ability to develop engaging course content that covers vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar, and cultural insights.
• Effective communication skills in both oral and written Mandarin.
• Cultural competence and the ability to impart cultural knowledge alongside language skills.
• Capacity to assess participant progress and provide feedback.
• Experience working with corporate clients and understanding organizational training needs.
