Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to outsource a service provider responsible for the supply, delivery, and installation of an industrial floor-mounted digital X-ray system at the Institute for Aviation Medicine. Additionally, the contract includes a comprehensive five-year maintenance plan to ensure ongoing operational readiness and quality assurance of the equipment.

Scope

The scope encompasses:

• Provision of a fully integrated digital X-ray system suitable for general radiography, including skeletal, skull, thorax, abdominal, scoliosis, and full-length long bone imaging.
• Supply, delivery, and installation of the equipment at the designated institute.
• Demonstration and training of imaging personnel on the utilization of the system.
• Implementation of a five-year service and maintenance plan covering preventative maintenance, calibration, software updates/upgrades, repairs, and quality assurance.
• Provision of necessary accessories, spare parts, and support to ensure continuous operation.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• A high-frequency, computer-controlled X-ray generator with a power output of at least 65 kW, compatible with 3-phase, 360-440 VAC, 50Hz supply.
• Floor-mounted stand with motorized vertical lift (max 1500mm), motorized rotation, and motorized variable SID with a range suitable for full spine and long bone imaging.
• Collimator with manual light field indicator, adjustable angle (+/- 45°), halogen light source with laser beam, and filters.
• Dual focal spot X-ray tube with rotation speed ≥8000 rpm, anode heat capacity ≥300 kHU, and adequate cooling facilities.
• Flat panel digital detector with high resolution, capable of digital supine and erect radiography, including long bone/spine stand for scoliosis.
• An adjustable, patient-compatible X-ray table with a minimum dimension of 220x60cm, load capacity >200kg, and floating movement.
• An image processing subsystem with a Windows-based operator console, DICOM compatibility, auto-detection, and processing features.
• A DICOM-compatible dry laser printer capable of handling multiple film sizes, with calibration and high-resolution output.
• Compliance with international safety standards (IEC 60601-1, 60601-1-2), CE or SABS certification, and adherence to electromagnetic interference protections.

Skills Requirements

The successful service provider must demonstrate:

• Proven experience in supplying and installing digital X-ray systems, particularly in medical or aviation medical environments.
• Capability to provide technical evaluation, clinical assessment, and on-site training for personnel.
• Availability of qualified technical staff with expertise in radiographic equipment maintenance and software support.
• Ability to supply ongoing technical support, software updates, and spare parts for the entire equipment lifespan.
• Compliance with all safety, quality, and regulatory standards, including certification and licensing requirements.
