Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure framing, print, and installation services for the Materiality Exhibition at Iziko Museums of South Africa. Specifically, the scope includes framing a selected artwork by Amy Rusch for the Matereality exhibition, ensuring high museum-quality standards suitable for a permanent or semi-permanent display at a national institution.

Scope

The scope encompasses:

• Framing of one artwork by Amy Rusch titled "That which has been marked by the Wind comes with the Wind and is moved by the Wind II" (2023), using specified materials and standards.
• Mounting the artwork on an archival backing board with appropriate spacing.
• Using a natural kiaat wood frame with a slim profile and contemporary lines.
• Applying museum-grade, anti-reflective conservation glass (museum glass).
• Ensuring all materials are archival and conservation standard.
• Providing a formal quotation valid for at least 60 days.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications for the framing include:

• Mounting on a plain archival backing board (warm white or soft off-white) with approximately 5 cm spacing around the artwork.
• Artwork should appear to "float" on the backing, with visible edges and materiality.
• Frame: Natural kiaat wood, slim profile, clean lines.
• Glazing: Museum glass (premium anti-reflective conservation glass).
• Use of museum-quality, archival materials throughout.
• All work must meet high museum exhibition standards for a permanent/semi-permanent display.

Skills Requirements

The service provider must demonstrate:

• Proven experience in high-quality museum framing and installation services.
• Capability to handle artworks with care, adhering to conservation standards.
• Ability to produce precise, aesthetically aligned framing that meets the specified technical standards.
• Competence in providing detailed, compliant quotations and documentation.
