Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure the manufacturing, supply, delivery, and installation of office furniture and public seating at various facilities of the Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness for a period of three years. The aim is to enhance the quality of furniture, support a guarantee of at least five years on products, and support local manufacturing capacity within the Western Cape. The project also seeks to ensure durable, ergonomic, and standardized furniture that supports efficient healthcare service delivery and improves patient and staff comfort.

Scope

The scope encompasses:

• Manufacturing, supply, and delivery of office furniture and public seating as specified in the tender documents.
• Installation of furniture at designated facilities across the Western Cape.
• Provision of a range of furniture types including chairs, desks, credenzas, storage units, and public seating in various configurations and finishes (veneered and laminated wood).
• Technical support, inspection, and quality assurance during manufacturing and installation.
• Support for high-volume production capacity within the Western Cape, with restrictions on outsourcing manufacturing components.
• Provision of furniture with a minimum guarantee of five years, supporting durability and maintenance.
• Delivery, installation, and associated costs within specified timeframes, primarily within the Cape Town metropolitan area.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements are detailed and include:

• Product Standards: Furniture must conform to relevant standards such as IEC 601-1 for electrical components, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and Hazardous Substances Act.
• Manufacturing Capacity: Bidders must demonstrate capacity to produce high volumes within the Western Cape, with proof of factory location and capacity.
• Guarantee & Durability: Minimum five-year guarantee on all furniture products, with high-quality materials and workmanship ensuring durability in healthcare environments.
• Design & Ergonomics: Furniture must support ergonomic principles, with adjustable features (height, backrest lock positions, armrests) and be suitable for healthcare settings.
• Material Specifications: Upholstery textiles must meet abrasion and color fastness standards; furniture shells and carcasses must be at least 16mm thick, manufactured from high-quality materials, with specified finishes (veneered or laminated).
• Finish & Colors: Furniture shall be available in standard colors, with options for color-coding and facility-specific customization.
• Assembly & Installation: Deliveries to be scheduled, with furniture delivered between 08:00 and 14:30, and installations confirmed at least one week prior.
• Compliance & Certification: Bidders must submit proof of compliance, including B-BBEE certificates, tax clearance, and factory capacity documentation.
• Additional Requirements: Bidders must support quality assurance processes, provide samples if required, and adhere to safety standards for furniture design and installation.
