Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to engage a service provider to conduct a National Awareness Survey for SANSA. The survey aims to assess public perceptions of the South African National Space Agency and the impacts of the National Space Programme. The survey results will inform SANSA’s communication strategies and enhance understanding of the agency’s visibility and influence within South Africa.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Designing and implementing a nationally representative survey of the South African public.
• Utilizing face-to-face and online methodologies with a total sample size of approximately 3,000 respondents aged 18+ years.
• Employing random probability sampling to ensure representativeness across South Africa.
• Developing a detailed methodology and project plan.
• Training survey teams in official languages as advised by the project team.
• Delivering comprehensive data analysis and a final report presentation.
• Sharing the report with SANSA’s Executive Committee and providing accessible data formats for communication materials.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Development of a detailed survey methodology and project plan.
• Questionnaire development, translation, and validation.
• Data collection through face-to-face and online interviews, each lasting 15-20 minutes.
• Ensuring data quality, weighting, and analysis aligned with national proportions.
• Provision of a clean SPSS data file with weighted data.
• Preparation of a comprehensive report and presentation.
• Training survey teams in multiple languages as per project needs.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Experience in designing and executing large-scale national surveys, with at least 3 relevant reference projects.
• Proven expertise in questionnaire development, translation, and data analysis.
• Strong project management skills to deliver within a four-month timeframe.
• Capability to employ both face-to-face and online data collection methods.
• Ability to produce detailed methodological documentation and project plans.
• Experience in training multilingual survey teams and managing data quality assurance.
• Competence in delivering clear, accessible reports and presentations suitable for high-level decision-making.
