Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to identify and appoint innovative parties capable of developing prototypes within the ELIDZ Science & Technology Park. The initiative aims to foster technology-led innovations and industrial modernization by creating a pipeline of prototypes and products that demonstrate solutions to technological challenges. These prototypes are intended to support the incubation of entrepreneurs and small enterprises, ultimately leading to the establishment of manufacturing entities within the ELIDZ.

Scope

The scope encompasses the development of prototypes aligned with ELIDZ’s strategic sectors, including automotive, sustainable energy, digital economy, advanced manufacturing, aquaculture, logistics, and other relevant industries. The process involves:

• Responding to an Expression of Interest (EOI) with proposals for prototype development.
• Demonstrating innovation potential, market feasibility, and technical readiness.
• Providing detailed project descriptions, including problem statements, technology solutions, and development stages.
• Attending briefing sessions and submitting comprehensive application forms and supporting documents.
• Engaging in evaluation, presentations, and potential negotiations leading to prototype funding and development.

Technical Requirements

The technical criteria focus on:

• Design and innovation readiness: 3D designs, patentable technology, and detailed drawings suitable for prototyping.
• Market research demonstrating the feasibility and applicability of the innovation across South Africa or specific regions.
• Team experience and capability to deliver the prototype, supported by CVs and relevant qualifications.
• Clear milestones, deliverables, and estimated timelines for prototype development.
• Intellectual property considerations, including existing IP rights and plans for IP protection during the project.
• Feasibility of budget and resource allocation.

Skills Requirements

Respondents must demonstrate:

• Technical expertise in prototype development, including design, engineering, and manufacturing capabilities.
• Experience relevant to the specific industry sector targeted by the prototype.
• Ability to conduct market research and feasibility analysis.
• Strong project management skills to meet milestones and deliverables.
