Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to provide safe, reliable, and efficient transportation services for Eskom employees traveling between various destinations and Kendal Power Station over a period of 5 years. The service aims to enhance employee commute experiences, ensure safety, and support operational efficiency at Kendal Power Station.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Provision of transportation services for Eskom employees from various locations such as Middelburg, Bronkhorstspruit, Kriel, Benoni, Pretoria, and Midrand to/from Kendal Power Station.
• Operation on designated routes covering suburbs and towns in Gauteng and Mpumalanga provinces.
• Deployment of a suitable fleet of vehicles ensuring comfort, safety, and reliability.
• Adherence to schedules for timely pickups and drop-offs.
• Ensuring employee safety and vehicle maintenance in compliance with regulatory standards.
• Employing qualified, trained, and courteous drivers.
• Compliance with Eskom policies, including fleet policies and Life Saving Rules.
• Monitoring service performance and addressing issues promptly.

Technical Requirements

The technical criteria include:

• Vehicles must not be older than 3 years at the time of inspection, with proof of registration.
• Vehicles should have safety features, comfort features, and safety equipment, including partitioned driver’s compartments as per regulations.
• Seats must be equipped with seat belts, and vehicles should have full-service history and less than 150,000 km on the odometer.
• Minibus requirements include a partitioned driver’s compartment and specific seating arrangements.
• Drivers must have at least 3 years of driving experience, a valid Professional Driver Permit (PDP), and provide CVs and copies of licenses.
• The service provider must hold passenger liability insurance and conduct pre-trip risk assessments.

Skills and Skills Development Requirements

The tender emphasizes:

• Proof of relevant work experience in transportation services for at least 3 years.
• Qualified drivers with a minimum of 3 years’ experience and valid licenses, including PDPs.
• Implementation of skills development initiatives, including training and bursaries for unemployed graduates or school leavers, particularly from disadvantaged groups.
• Proposals for skills development initiatives must include targets, outcomes, and compliance with Eskom’s transformation and B-BBEE objectives.
• Adherence to local procurement content targets and contribution to enterprise development and transformation goals.
