Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure a competent specialist to conduct geotechnical and topographical investigations at the proposed site for government offices and municipal offices in Jane Furse. The investigations aim to assess site and soil conditions to inform planning, design, and construction phases for the development project.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Conducting geotechnical investigations at specified locations, including sampling, backfilling, and compaction of soil horizons.
• Performing laboratory testing such as grading, indicators, CBR testing, and percolation tests across the site.
• Providing detailed reports on regional geology, soil stability, potential obstructions, groundwater conditions, and ground suitability.
• Delivering topographical surveys with field investigations, detailed drawings, contour plans at 100mm intervals, and associated data files.
• Preparing comprehensive investigation reports with recommendations for foundation and pavement design.
• Attending an inception meeting and submitting a detailed work plan and risk register.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Geotechnical investigation involving inspection pits, sampling, backfilling, and compaction based on site conditions.
• Laboratory testing including grading, CBR, and indicator tests on disturbed samples.
• Percolation tests at ten locations, with exact positions to be confirmed.
• Field and laboratory testing of in-situ materials, with recommendations for foundation types and pavement design.
• Preparation of detailed reports covering site description, regional geology, soil stability, groundwater, and excavation suitability.
• Topographical survey work including field investigations, detailed DWG drawings, points, heights, and contour plans.
• Deliverables must be signed off by registered professionals and include all relevant data files.

Skills Requirements

The tender requires the following professional skills and experience:

• Geotechnical Engineer:
  • Minimum of 3 years post-registration experience in geotechnical engineering.
  • Registered with a recognized professional body (e.g., PrEngTech).
• Land Surveyor:
  • Minimum of 3 years post-registration experience in topographical surveying.
  • Registered with a recognized professional body.

Additionally, the service provider must provide CVs, academic qualifications, and professional registration certificates for key professionals, ensuring compliance with the specified experience requirements.
