Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to establish and develop an aviation museum at Polokwane International Airport. The museum aims to showcase aircraft, artifacts, interactive exhibits, and educational content that highlight the evolution of aviation both locally and internationally. The project seeks a qualified and reputable service provider to design, fabricate, and install exhibits that promote aviation history, innovations, and culture.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Design and fabrication of exhibits, including interactive displays and visual art installations.
• Installation of exhibits and displays in the museum space.
• Development of art effects and displays for showrooms, including outdoor lighting (348 high brightness outdoor lights).
• Creation of visual art installations such as frames, metalwork art from recycled airplane parts, and aviation-themed graphic and exhibition design.
• Development of educational and children’s art areas with engaging activities, tables, and chairs.
• Design and installation of commemorative and historical art honoring aviation pioneers, milestones, and innovations, with signage modeled on instruments or posters.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements encompass:

• Exhibit design and fabrication, including interactive displays and visual art installations.
• Installation of exhibits and visual effects, including outdoor lighting and art frames (sizes: 110cm x 90cm x 5cm).
• Graphic and exhibition design to support wayfinding, learning, and exhibit cohesion.
• Development of engaging art-based activities for children and families.
• Provision of signage with distinctive fonts and icons modeled on aviation instruments or posters.
• All work must meet the specified quality standards and be completed within the project timeline.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Experience in developing and refurbishing museums, libraries, or similar cultural institutions, with at least four completed projects (references required).
• Financial stability, evidenced by a letter from a recognized financial institution confirming the ability to execute the project.
• Capability in exhibit design, fabrication, and installation, including interactive and visual art installations.
• Proficiency in graphic and exhibition design, including signage and visual communication elements.
• Ability to develop engaging educational and children’s art activities.
• Compliance with administrative and mandatory requirements, including registration on the Central Supplier Database (CSD), tax compliance, and relevant certifications.
• Capacity to work within the specified project duration and adhere to quality standards and safety regulations.
