Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply, install, and commission a new water-cooled chiller at Red Cross Hospital, replacing an existing unit, with a focus on restoring full chilled water system capacity. The project aims to ensure the hospital’s cooling system operates efficiently and reliably, with ongoing maintenance support.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Supply and installation of a new water-cooled chiller compliant with specified standards and specifications.
• Modification of existing plinth, piping, electrical connections, and integration with existing control systems.
• Commissioning, testing, and training hospital staff on operation and maintenance.
• Provision of manuals, safety documentation, and warranties.
• Site preparation, safety measures, and coordination with hospital operations.

Technical Requirements

• Supply of a chiller with specified capacity, refrigerant type (R-134A), and compatible with brands like Daikin, Trane, Carrier, or equivalent.
• Installation of piping, insulation, electrical connections, and control systems, including integration with existing chillers for system optimization.
• Compliance with relevant standards such as SANS, IEC, BSI, and PGWC specifications.
• Use of only approved, high-quality, SABS or equivalent materials and products.
• Provision of detailed shop drawings, installation, and “as-installed” drawings.
• Implementation of safety, health, and environmental regulations, including a comprehensive Health & Safety Plan.
• Testing, commissioning, and certification of all systems with documented approval from the Employer’s Agent.
• Guarantee of at least 12 months on the installed system, with maintenance and service provisions.

Skills and Skills Requirements

• Qualified refrigeration and HVAC specialists with experience in installing and commissioning water chillers.
• Personnel with relevant certifications, including a Category B6 Practitioner registered in the company’s name.
• Project management and site supervision staff capable of coordinating installation activities, safety protocols, and quality control.
• Technical staff proficient in electrical wiring, piping, insulation, and control systems integration.
• Health & Safety officers familiar with hospital environment regulations and capable of preparing and implementing comprehensive safety plans.
• Ability to produce detailed shop drawings, technical specifications, and operational manuals.
• Experience in working within hospital or sensitive environments, ensuring minimal disruption and adherence to safety standards.
