Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to refurbish buildings at the Driefontein Wastewater Treatment Works (WWTW). The scope includes building repairs, roof replacements, ceiling installations, painting, tile replacements, installation of purlins and bargeboards, door replacements, and related structural and cosmetic upgrades. The aim is to ensure the buildings meet safety, functional, and aesthetic standards as per Johannesburg Water’s requirements.

Scope

The scope encompasses:

• Replacement and repair of roofs, ceilings, and roofing tiles
• Painting of walls, ceilings, and bargeboards
• Replacement of doors, purlins, and other structural components
• Repair of cracked walls and damaged timber
• Installation of interlock paving bricks
• Replacement of fluorescent lighting fittings and fixtures
• Repair of leaking pipes and structural reinstatement
• Provision of guarantee and safety compliance documentation

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Adherence to Johannesburg Water’s specifications and standards for building refurbishment
• Use of approved materials such as cement roof tiles, wall tiles, and PVA paint
• Implementation of scaffolding and safe working procedures during construction activities
• Compliance with SHE (Safety, Health, Environment) standards, including risk assessments, safety files, PPE, and signage
• Proper handling and installation of glass, hand tools, portable electrical tools, and working at heights
• Provision of a baseline risk assessment and method statements for all activities
• Submission of safety files, medical certificates, and proof of competence for appointed personnel
• Guarantee of three months for completed work

Skills and Skills Requirements

The tenderer must demonstrate:

• Competence in building repairs, roofing, painting, tiling, and carpentry
• Qualified personnel including a Construction Supervisor, Safety Officer, and other appointed specialists with relevant CVs and certificates
• Experience in executing similar refurbishment projects at industrial or municipal facilities
• Knowledge of SHE regulations and ability to implement safety plans and risk assessments
• Ability to prepare and submit comprehensive safety files, method statements, and quality assurance documentation
• Capacity to manage project timelines, quality standards, and compliance with legal and contractual obligations
