Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a qualified contractor to undertake repairs and maintenance of the Fort Wiltshire (B4) staff accommodation at Great Fish River Nature Reserve. The scope includes ensuring the buildings are maintained to a standard that guarantees safety, functionality, and compliance with relevant standards and regulations.

Scope

The scope of work encompasses:

• Repair and maintenance of five units at Botha’s Post (B6) staff accommodation.
• Comprehensive works including roofing, walls, ceilings, floors, doors, windows, electrical, plumbing, rainwater goods, fencing, and appliance installations.
• Implementation of environmental management and health & safety plans.
• Site establishment, management of existing services, and coordination of subcontractors.
• Adherence to environmental, safety, and operational standards as specified in the contract documentation.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Compliance with CIDB Grade 3GB or higher registration.
• Execution of works in accordance with South African Standards (SABS 1200 series) and other relevant specifications.
• Provision of detailed methodology, construction program, and risk assessments.
• Use of approved materials, plant, and equipment, with proper testing and certification.
• Implementation of health and safety measures, including development of a comprehensive H&S plan, appointment of SHE representatives, and adherence to the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• Environmental management including submission of an Environmental Management Plan.
• Coordination with existing site services and infrastructure, ensuring minimal disruption.
• Provision of qualified key personnel with relevant experience and certifications.

Skills Requirements

The skills and qualifications required from bidders include:

• Company experience in executing similar building maintenance projects with a minimum value of R1,000,000 each, completed within the last 5 years.
• Provision of CVs and valid professional registration certificates for key personnel such as Contracts Manager, Site Agent, Foreman, Electrician, Plumber, and Safety Officer.
• Demonstrated ability to manage health and safety, environmental compliance, and quality control.
• Capability to prepare detailed construction methodologies, programs, and risk assessments.
• Proven track record of successful project delivery, with references and completion certificates.
• Capacity to coordinate subcontractors and manage site operations efficiently.
