Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to solicit proposals for the maintenance, repair, and rehabilitation of the 03L runway threshold located between Taxiway Bravo and Juliet at O.R. Tambo International Airport, operated by Airports Company South Africa (ACSA). The aim is to ensure the runway's operational safety, reliability, and compliance with relevant standards through effective maintenance and rehabilitation works.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Maintenance, repair, and rehabilitation of the 03L runway threshold between Taxiway Bravo and Juliet.
• Site inspections, safety assessments, and preparation of project plans.
• Implementation of construction activities during specified operational hours, with certain works scheduled after airport operational hours (post 23:30 or after last flight, until 4:00).
• Provision of all necessary equipment, materials, and personnel to complete the works.
• Compliance with safety, environmental, and health regulations, including occupational health and safety requirements.
• Coordination with airport authorities and adherence to security protocols for access to restricted areas.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements for the tender include:

• Contractor must have a CIDB grading of 5CE or higher.
• Provision of relevant project experience, including references and certificates for similar projects involving runway or airport taxiway construction or rehabilitation.
• Qualified personnel including civil, electrical engineers, and resident engineers with relevant experience and registration (e.g., with ECSA).
• Demonstration of company experience through recent project references, certificates of completion, and client reference letters.
• Provision of detailed project plans, schedules, and methodology for executing the works.
• Submission of detailed CVs and certified copies of qualifications for key personnel.
• Compliance with safety, environmental, and occupational health standards, including submission of SHE policies and safety management plans.
• Provision of plant and equipment lists demonstrating availability and suitability for the scope of work.
• Adherence to the specified working hours, with works scheduled during designated operational and after-hours periods.
• Submission of all required documentation, including insurance certificates, company registration, tax compliance, and relevant statutory certificates.
