Objectives

To facilitate the cost-effective, compliant, and environmentally responsible management of obsolete ICT equipment currently stored at SAFCOL’s Nelspruit facility. The primary goals are to ensure secure data sanitization, maximize material recovery and recycling, eliminate unauthorized disposal methods, and maintain full adherence to national environmental, health, safety, and data protection legislation.

Scope of Work

  • Storage & Handling: Supply appropriate containers, cages, or bins for temporary storage; ensure safe handling prior to transport.
  • Transportation: Move collected e-waste using legally compliant, suitable vehicles while securing loads to prevent loss, damage, theft, or environmental contamination.
  • Sorting & Classification: Categorise equipment by type and condition; separate reusable, recyclable, and non-recyclable materials.
  • Data Security: Perform secure destruction or sanitisation of all data-bearing devices (computers, laptops, servers, hard drives, tablets, mobile devices) and issue Certificates of Data Destruction.
  • Recycling & Disposal: Maximise material recovery through authorised recycling facilities; ensure environmentally responsible disposal of non-recyclable and hazardous components without using municipal waste streams or unauthorised landfills.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Provide comprehensive records including collection receipts, weight certificates, recycling/recovery certificates, final disposal documentation, and data destruction proofs.
  • Compliance & Safety: Adhere to all applicable environmental, waste management, occupational health and safety, transport, and data protection regulations.

Technical Requirements

  • Mandatory membership with the E-Waste Association of South Africa (Ewasa).
  • Valid Central Supplier Database (CSD) registration and SARS tax compliance status.
  • SANAS-accredited B-BBEE Verification Certificate or an EME/QSE sworn affidavit attested by a Commissioner of Oaths.
  • Certified processes for IT asset data sanitisation and physical destruction.
  • Ability to generate audit-ready compliance documentation (weighbridge, recycling, disposal, and data destruction certificates).
  • Compliance with SAFCOL’s General Conditions of Purchase, Special Conditions of Contract, and Supplier Code of Conduct.
  • Submission of ID copies for company directors and proof of directorship/shareholding structures.

Skills Requirements

Joint Ventures, Consortia and Subcontracting:

Most large tenders are composed of tasks in a number of different fields, and it is not always possible for a single company to cater for all of them, and therefore Joint Ventures and Consortia are formed to then submit a tender together.

Government tenders are also requiring the subcontracting of a percentage of the tender work, and the trouble is then finding Subcontractors to comply with the tender requirements

To assist companies with finding tender partners and subcontractors, you can now submit your contact details and company information on this page, so other interested parties can contact you for purposes of forming Joint Ventures and subcontracting

You will need to supply your details on every tender you are interested in tendering for. For this you need an active Business Listing - Register and Login at My Account to create a Business Listing

NOTE: This is not a tender application form, it is meant to facilitate the meeting of partners to form a Joint Venture or Subcontractor relationship for this tender only
