Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a service provider capable of providing bus towing services. The selected provider will be responsible for towing buses that have broken down en route and cannot be repaired at the breakdown scene, to the nearest depot or a safe parking space, on an as-and-when-required basis.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Towing buses that are immobilized en route due to breakdowns.
• Transporting buses to designated depots or safe parking areas.
• Providing services on an as-and-when-required basis, without a fixed schedule.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Provision of recovery vehicles suitable for towing buses.
• Proof of ownership or lease of recovery vehicles, including vehicle registration certificates and fleet size details.
• Industry experience and references from current clients.
• Compliance with industry standards such as MIWA, SATRA, or SAMBRA certifications.
• Route coverage as specified in the annexure.
• Registration on the National Treasury’s Central Supplier Database (CSD).
• Adherence to safety and operational standards for towing services.

Skills Requirements

The skills and qualifications required from bidders include:

• Experience in vehicle recovery and towing services, demonstrated through reference letters and industry certifications.
• Ability to provide reliable and prompt towing services across designated routes.
• Capacity to manage multiple towing requests efficiently.
• Compliance with legal and safety standards applicable to towing operations.
• Effective communication skills for coordination and reporting.
