Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a service provider responsible for the supply, delivery, and installation of heavy-duty extractor fans and their associated accessories across various locations in the KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) region. The project aims to ensure the proper functioning of ventilation systems at specified substations, with work to be completed within a six (6) month period.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Supply of heavy-duty extractor fans with specified technical features (e.g., 550 Watts, 3-phase 400V, diameter 950mm, automated with sensors, replaceable filters).
• Delivery of the fans and accessories to designated sites: Bridge City Traction Substation, Parcels Distribution Substation, Concourse 1, and Concourse 2.
• Installation and commissioning of the fans at each location, including sealing and insulating pipes and cable conduits.
• Provision of all necessary accessories such as pipes, cables, ducting, electrical wiring, grills, and finishings.
• Completion of work within a six-month timeframe, with payments made upon successful completion and certification.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications for the extractor fans and associated works include:

• Heavy-duty exhaust fans with the following features:
  • Power: 550 Watts
  • Voltage: 3 Phase, 400V
  • Diameter: 950mm
  • Automation: Room temperature adjustable sensor
  • Air filter: Replaceable
• Installation of sealing foam or cement on all pipes and cable conduits.
• Compliance with electrical safety standards and signing of work permits.
• Adherence to project timelines, with the overall duration not exceeding six months.
• Provision of valid CIDB grading of 2ME and 2EB or higher.
• Implementation of safety measures, including site security and safety files.
• Proper disposal of rubble and waste materials post-installation.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Organizational experience in installing similar heavy-duty extractor fans, with evidence of completed projects.
• Qualified personnel, including:
  • Trade-tested electricians or electrical technicians with wiremen’s licenses and a minimum of 3 years post-trade experience.
• Capability to develop and adhere to a detailed project schedule, preferably using MS Project, showing clear sequencing and milestones.
• Compliance with CIDB grading requirements (minimum Grade 2ME and 2EB or higher).
• Ability to manage safety, security, and site access procedures effectively.
• Experience in delivering projects within specified timelines and budgets, with proven technical expertise in electrical and mechanical installation of ventilation systems.
