Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply, deliver, and install a 12 kWp grid-tied solar photovoltaic (PV) system equipped with 60 kWh lithium-ion batteries at Elonctuary Farms. The project aims to enhance renewable energy utilization, improve energy independence, and support sustainable farming operations through a reliable and efficient solar power solution.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Supply of all necessary solar system components including monocrystalline solar modules, a three-phase inverter, lithium-ion batteries, mounting structures, protection devices, and lightning protection equipment.
• Delivery and installation of the solar PV system at Elonctuary Farms, North West, including ground mounting of solar modules on steel structures, electrical connections to existing pumps and loads, and system commissioning.
• Provision of a user-friendly monitoring application compatible with mobile and desktop platforms, along with comprehensive training and support for system management.
• Installation of security fencing around the solar system perimeter.
• Provision of warranties, operation manuals, as-built drawings, and warranty certificates upon project completion.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications for the system components are as follows:

• Solar Modules: Monocrystalline modules with a total capacity of 12 kWp, compliant with SANS/IEC standards, ISO9001:2015, ISO14001:2015, ISO45001:2018, and aligned to face true North at approximately 35°.
• Mounting Structure: Steel poles, galvanized or rust-proof painted, minimum of 4 poles, height of 3.5m, designed to withstand wind loads.
• Inverter: Stand-alone three-phase inverter (e.g., Sunsynk or equivalent) matching 12 kW capacity, compliant with NRS 097-2-1 standards.
• Batteries: Lithium-ion batteries with a total capacity of 60 kWh, scalable via parallel connection, with management features and manufacturer’s warranty.
• Electrical Connections: Connection to existing 2.5 kW x 2 three-phase pumps and other electrical loads, with appropriate protection and grounding measures.
• Lightning Protection & Earthing: Adequate measures to prevent damage from lightning strikes, including grounding and surge protection.
• Monitoring System: Mobile and desktop application for real-time system performance monitoring, with training and 12 months support.
• Commissioning & Documentation: Submission of design, as-built drawings, operation manuals, warranty certificates, and compliance certificates.

Skills Requirements

The service provider must demonstrate:

• Qualified electrical installation expertise, with installation carried out by a registered electrical wireman or Master Installation Electrician (proof of qualification required).
• Experience in installing similar-sized solar PV systems, supported by at least three reference letters detailing project scope, capacity, client, contact details, and completion date.
• Ability to provide official manufacturer data sheets (PDF) for solar modules, inverters, and batteries.
• Capability to design, install, and commission the system according to SANS/IEC standards and relevant safety regulations.
• Provision of comprehensive training on system operation and monitoring applications.
• Ability to provide warranties for equipment and workmanship, with a 12-month guarantee period post-installation.
