Tender Summary

Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to solicit quotations for the design, manufacture, and/or supply of a Solid Gas Separation Cyclone (Y1301) in accordance with the attached specification sheet. The aim is to procure a cyclone that effectively captures entrained solids from process gases generated during plasma gasification of uranium-contaminated waste oil, ensuring operational efficiency and compliance with technical requirements.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

  • Supply of one (1) Solid Gas Separation Cyclone (Y1301) as per the attached Specification Sheet.
  • Provision of all necessary labour, materials, and services for sizing, selection, design, manufacturing, and delivery to Necsa in Pelindaba.
  • Inclusion of all accessories required for the cyclone's operation.
  • Options for either the design and manufacture of a new cyclone (Option A) or supply of an off-the-shelf product (Option B), with relevant documentation for evaluation.

Note: All other equipment referenced in the P&ID or specifications outside the scope are not included.

Technical Requirements

The cyclone must meet the following technical specifications:

  • Operate with a maximum gas throughput of 57.9 kg/h (~71.6 m³/h) at an inlet temperature of 90°C and pressure of -7.9 kPa(g).
  • Handle process gases comprising CO₂, H₂O, HF, HCl, O₂, and N₂, with entrained solids including triuranium octoxide and metal oxides, with particle sizes ranging from 1 μm to 3 μm.
  • Incorporate a flange for solid removal from the cyclone's solid particulate matter.
  • Be capable of continuous operation for up to 8 hours, with provisions for solids removal via a rotary valve into a collection drum.
  • Design must ensure the cyclone operates in conjunction with a solids collection drum and optionally with a downstream knockout catch pot V1304.
  • Include all accessories, such as filters and sampling systems, as specified in the attached P&ID.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

  • ISO 9001:2015 accreditation or equivalent certification, with evidence provided.
  • Capability to supply off-the-shelf cyclones within specified lead times (4-8 weeks) or demonstrate the ability to design and manufacture a cyclone that meets all specifications.
  • Experience in designing and manufacturing cyclones for hazardous and radioactive process gases, ensuring safety and compliance.
  • Proven after-sales service, including maintenance and repair capabilities, supported by relevant documentation or references.
  • Technical expertise in handling materials and operating conditions similar to those specified, including handling entrained solids and process gases in nuclear-related applications.

Joint Ventures, Consortia and Subcontracting:

Most large tenders are composed of tasks in a number of different fields, and it is not always possible for a single company to cater for all of them, and therefore Joint Ventures and Consortia are formed to then submit a tender together.

Government tenders are also requiring the subcontracting of a percentage of the tender work, and the trouble is then finding Subcontractors to comply with the tender requirements

To assist companies with finding tender partners and subcontractors, you can now submit your contact details and company information on this page, so other interested parties can contact you for purposes of forming Joint Ventures and subcontracting

You will need to supply your details on every tender you are interested in tendering for. For this you need an active Business Listing - Register and Login at My Account to create a Business Listing

NOTE: This is not a tender application form, it is meant to facilitate the meeting of partners to form a Joint Venture or Subcontractor relationship for this tender only
