Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure services for the repair and retrofit of various lighting fittings, ballasts, starters, and the replacement with LED lighting in the specified building. The project aims to ensure electrical safety, improve lighting efficiency, and address existing electrical faults such as non-functioning lights, switches, and circuits, including staircase lighting, floodlights, and air conditioning power supply.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Repair or retrofit various lights not working in and around the building, replacing them with LED cool white lights.
• Repair or replace faulty plug and light switches.
• Supply and install covers to close open plug sockets.
• Investigate and resolve lighting issues at staircases and trap doors.
• Repair or replace floodlights not functioning.
• Label new switches and plugs correctly to match the electrical distribution board (DB).
• Investigate and resolve circuit tripping and power supply issues to air conditioning circuits.
• Ensure compliance with safety documentation, including a mandatory Safety File.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements for tenderers include:

• Valid Trade Test Certificate and Wireman License to issue a Certificate of Compliance (COC).
• Registration with the Electrical Contractors Association South Africa (ECSA) or Electrical Conformance Board (ECB) and in good standing.
• CIDB contractor grading of 1EB/1EP or higher (Buildings or Infrastructure).
• Provision of a reference letter demonstrating experience on similar projects.
• Attendance at a compulsory site briefing and site visit scheduled for 24/03/2026.
• Submission of all relevant safety, compliance, and project documentation, including safety files, risk assessments, and method statements.

Skills Requirements

Eligible tenderers must possess:

• Valid Trade Test Certificate and Wireman License.
• Registration with ECSA or ECB and good standing with the relevant professional body.
• CIDB contractor grading of 1EB/1EP or higher.
• Experience in similar electrical repair and retrofit projects, evidenced by reference letters.
• Competence in electrical safety standards, risk assessment, and safe working procedures.
• Ability to prepare and submit comprehensive safety files, risk assessments, and method statements.
• Availability to attend site briefing and execute the work within the specified timeframe.
