Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply and deliver 500ml branded bottled water to uMngeni-uThukela Water over a period of two years, ensuring compliance with relevant standards, quality, and safety regulations. The initiative also aims to promote transformation and empowerment through targeted enterprise participation and preference goals, while maintaining high standards of water quality and service delivery.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Provision of 500ml bottled water branded with the uMngeni-uThukela Water logo.
• Delivery to specified sites: Head Office in Pietermaritzburg, Regional Office in New Germany, and Richards Bay, with potential for additional sites within KwaZulu-Natal.
• Supply of up to 5,000 bottles within 3-5 days’ notice.
• Compliance with South African standards for bottled water (SANS 1657:2022) and drinking water (SANS 241:2015).
• Provision of laboratory accreditation certificates, shelf-life certificates, and certificates of analysis.
• Adherence to contractual terms over a two-year period with options for extension.

Technical Requirements

• Water must be bacteria-free, fully compliant with SANS 1657:2022 and SANS 241:2015 standards.
• Bottles must be hermetically sealed, translucent blue, 500ml, recyclable, and labeled with manufacturing and expiry dates, mineral content, and the UUW logo.
• Supply chain processes must ensure uninterrupted supply throughout the contract period.
• Samples submitted must meet water quality standards with 100% compliance.
• All packaging, labeling, and documentation must meet specified standards and instructions.

Skills and Capabilities Requirements

• Experience in supplying bottled water, demonstrated through references and past contracts (minimum of two contracts in the last five years).
• Facilities based in KwaZulu-Natal or outside, with proof of physical and business addresses.
• Laboratory accreditation and ability to produce Certificates of Analysis confirming water quality compliance.
• Capacity to supply large volumes on short notice and maintain consistent quality over the contract duration.
• Compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards, including Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
• Ability to meet enterprise development and empowerment targets, including B-BBEE compliance and enterprise participation goals.
