Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply, deliver, and construct an irrigation system for the Intelminds Project in Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality, Chris Hani District. Additionally, the project aims to establish associated infrastructure such as ablution facilities, water supply, sewerage, and related equipment to support the agricultural activities within the project scope.

Scope

The scope encompasses the following key activities:

• Construction of ablution facilities including water supply, sewerage, and sanitation infrastructure.
• Supply and installation of equipment inside the pack-shed, such as vegetable washing machines, sorting tables, packing tables, and storage units.
• Provision of electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems as per project specifications.
• Site establishment, including access roads, security, storage, and utilities.
• Implementation of environmental management, health and safety, and risk mitigation measures.
• Provision of all construction materials, tools, equipment, and safety gear required for the execution of the works.

Technical Requirements

The technical scope includes:

• Construction of structures using specified standards (SABS 1200, SANS standards, etc.).
• Installation of specified equipment such as vegetable washing machines, scales, lockers, and other packhouse machinery.
• Design, supply, installation, and commissioning of cold rooms, water tanks, and other infrastructure.
• Implementation of environmental controls, waste management, and pollution prevention measures.
• Adherence to health and safety regulations, including hazard identification, risk assessments, PPE, signage, and emergency procedures.
• Provision of site-specific environmental and safety management plans.

Skills Requirements

The tender mandates the following skills and qualifications:

• Qualified project management personnel, including a Construction Manager with relevant experience and certification.
• Health and Safety Officers registered with SACPCMP, with a minimum of NQF Level 5 qualification.
• Qualified site supervisors and competent personnel for specific tasks such as scaffolding, electrical work, and machinery operation.
• Skilled workers for construction, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical installations.
• Environmental management specialists for environmental impact mitigation and compliance.
• First aid attendants with Level 3 certification.
• Personnel trained in occupational health and safety, hazard identification, risk assessment, and emergency response.

All key personnel must provide CVs, proof of qualifications, registration certificates, and relevant experience. The contractor must ensure that all workers are adequately trained, inducted, and competent to perform their assigned tasks safely and efficiently.
