Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply, deliver, and install multiple converted containers (such as ablution facilities, classrooms, cloakrooms, etc.) for Mossel Bay Municipality. The project aims to enhance infrastructure by providing functional, compliant, and high-quality container solutions that meet specified standards and safety requirements.

Scope

The scope encompasses:

• Supply, delivery, and installation of various types of converted containers, including ablution units, classrooms, headmaster offices, sickbays, and specialized facilities like disabled toilets.
• Conversion of second-hand B-grade 6m containers into specified functional units with necessary plumbing, electrical, and finishing works.
• Provision of associated civil works, including earthworks, concrete, and related construction activities.
• Installation of containers with connections to existing water, electricity, and sanitation networks.
• Adherence to technical specifications, safety standards, and environmental considerations as detailed in the tender documents.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Containers must meet specified dimensions and be converted to include plumbing, electrical installations, partitions, doors, sanitaryware, and fixtures as listed.
• All containers should be fitted with electrical components such as lighting, power points, distribution boards, and ventilation fans, complying with licensed electrician standards.
• Interior and exterior painting with high-quality waterborne epoxy primers and topcoats, ensuring durability and rust protection.
• Installation of sanitaryware, plumbing, and drainage systems in accordance with licensed plumber standards.
• Construction of disabled-accessible facilities with ramps, rails, and appropriate door sizes.
• Compliance with relevant safety, health, and environmental regulations, including Occupational Health & Safety Act, Construction Regulations, and municipal standards.
• Provision of all necessary documentation, including health and safety files, risk assessments, and compliance certificates.

Skills Requirements

The tender mandates that bidders possess:

• CIDB grading of 3GB or 3SL or higher, demonstrating capability in construction, conversion, and installation of containers.
• Relevant experience in supply, delivery, installation, and successful conversion of similar container projects, supported by appointment letters or completion certificates.
• Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, civil, and structural works related to container modifications.
• Competency in health and safety management, including preparation of H&S plans, risk assessments, and compliance with occupational safety standards.
• Ability to coordinate civil works, installation, and connections to existing infrastructure.
• Qualified personnel for supervision, electrical and plumbing work, and safety management, with appropriate certifications and training.
