Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply, deliver, and offload brass ball plug valves, pipe fittings, and brass bushes for a period of 36 months to meet the water and sanitation operational needs of the eThekwini Municipality. The aim is to ensure a consistent and reliable supply of specified plumbing components that comply with relevant standards and specifications over the contract duration.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Supply, delivery, and offloading of brass ball plug valves, pipe fittings, and brass bushes as detailed in the specifications.
• Provision of products that meet specific standards such as SANS/SABS 1067, 776, and 1056.
• Compliance with technical requirements such as dezincification resistance (DZR), nickel or chrome plating, PTFE seats, and appropriate bore sizes.
• Delivery to designated locations including the Control Valve Workshop at 14 Scott Road, New Germany.
• Provision of samples for inspection if requested during the evaluation process.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications for the products include:

• Ball plug valves must be full bore, made of DZR Brass, with body coating of Nickel or Chrome Plated.
• Operating member not less than 5 mm above the face of the valve, rotating clockwise to close, with directional indication.
• Ball valves must be class 12 with a minimum cold working pressure of 1.2 MPa.
• Internal ball made of DZR Brass, stainless steel, or nickel-plated DZR Brass with specified bore sizes for different diameters.
• Fittings and pipe components must adhere to SANS/SABS standards, including specific dimensions and material properties.
• All products must be accompanied by valid SABS certificates and meet the specified standards.

Skills and Competency Requirements

The tenderer must demonstrate:

• Proven manufacturing or supply experience of brass fittings, valves, and related components that meet the specified standards.
• Capability to produce or supply products with ISO 9001 accreditation or equivalent quality assurance certification.
• Ability to provide technical documentation, certificates of compliance, and samples for inspection and testing.
• Experience in managing large-scale supply contracts over an extended period (36 months).
• Competence in logistics and delivery management to ensure timely offloading at specified locations.
• Knowledge of relevant standards (SANS/SABS) and compliance with health, safety, and quality regulations.
