Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure both Premium & Economy Class Amenity Kits for South African Airways (SAA) for a contract period of one (1) year. The aim is to develop and supply amenity kits that reflect SAA’s brand identity, incorporating African-inspired design elements, and to enhance the passenger experience across different classes. The kits should be practical, comfortable, durable, industry-trendy, and aligned with SAA’s vision to be Africa’s World Class Airline, fostering a memorable connection with customers and strengthening brand loyalty.

Scope

The scope encompasses:

• Design and supply of two (2) distinct amenity kit designs for Business Class and Economy Class, with potential for additional designs.
• Provision of amenity kits with inner contents including skin care products, socks, eye shades, toothbrush, and toothpaste, adhering to specified quality and safety standards.
• Designs must incorporate SAA brand assets, including the logo, colour palette, and the African-inspired SAA pattern, following the 90/10 design principle.
• Manufacture of kits within specified dimensions and quality standards, ensuring sustainability and compliance with relevant certifications (ISO 9001:2015, ISO certifications for manufacturing facilities, etc.).
• Packaging, packing, and marking of the kits for safe transit and storage, including palletization and labeling requirements.
• Delivery of approximately 70,000 amenity kits over a 12-month period to the SAA warehouse in Johannesburg, on a DAP basis, with provisions for buffer stock and rolling order schedules.
• Provision of necessary documentation including tax clearance, quality certifications, and compliance with environmental policies.

Technical Requirements

Design & Aesthetics

• Two (2) distinct designs for Business Class amenity kits, with options for additional designs.
• Designs should reflect SAA’s brand identity, African heritage, and incorporate the hand-drawn SAA pattern as an accent (90/10 principle).
• Use of SAA Tail colours, with flexibility for creative variations aligned with current trends.
• Designs should be simple, stylish, and functional, avoiding complex features like multiple pockets or hooks unless innovative.

Materials & Contents

• Bag dimensions: approximately 240mm (L) x 170mm (H) x 120mm (D) for Business Class; 155mm (H) x 130mm (W) for Economy Class.
• Outer material: plastic (75 microns), heat-sealed, with optional off-the-shelf solutions combined with SAA logo for urgent supply.
• Inner contents for Economy Class include: socks (minimum 50cm), eye shades (dark polyester), toothbrush (poly-wrapped), toothpaste (5ml, sealed), and skin care products (moisturizer and lip balm).
• Inner contents for Business Class may include similar items, with options for alternative creative solutions.
• All contents must meet quality standards, be hypoallergenic, cruelty-free, and compliant with relevant certifications.
• Packaging must be recyclable, approved for cosmetics, and suitable for safe transit.

Brand & Certification

• Application of the SAA logo must follow defined brand rules, with appropriate clear space and special applications as needed.
• Use of the SAA colour palette and pattern as per brand guidelines.
• Contents such as skin care products must be from recognized global or South African premium brands, meeting criteria like ISO 22716 certification, market presence, and consumer trust.
• All manufacturing facilities must hold ISO certifications (ISO 9001:2015, ISO for ingredients and packaging), and demonstrate environmental policies.
• Products must be hypoallergenic, cruelty-free, and compliant with South African standards (CTFA SA). Proof of certification and safety data must be provided.

Quality & Delivery

• Delivery in a dry, undamaged condition on treated 4-way entry pallets (dimensions 1.2m x 1.2m).
• Each pallet must be reinforced and properly labeled with case packing details.
• Estimated total quantity: approximately 70,000 kits over 12 months.
• Pricing must be inclusive of all costs, with delivery DAP Johannesburg SAA Warehouse.
• Minimum buffer stock of 15% or 4 weeks of forecasted quantities to be maintained.
• Order scheduling based on usage rates with a rolling forecast.
