Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to construct sanitation facilities at Kotole Secondary School under the Safe Batch 5 Programme in the Limpopo Province. The project aims to improve water and sanitation infrastructure to support the school's operational needs and ensure health and safety standards are met.

Scope

The scope encompasses the full design, supply, installation, and commissioning of sanitation facilities, including earthworks, concrete work, masonry, waterproofing, roofing, carpentry, ironmongery, metalwork, plastering, plumbing, glazing, painting, external works, and associated infrastructure. The project involves working within an operational school environment, ensuring minimal disruption, and includes provisions for temporary facilities, site security, and community liaison.

Technical Requirements

• Adherence to the JBCC Series 2000 Principal Building Agreement and Preliminaries, with specific amendments as detailed in the tender documents.
• Implementation of health and safety measures compliant with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993, including preparation of a safety plan within 14 days of commencement.
• Provision of site hoarding, security measures, and community liaison to facilitate safe and efficient construction activities.
• Execution of earthworks, concrete, masonry, waterproofing, roofing, carpentry, glazing, plumbing, and other trades as per specified standards and manufacturer instructions.
• Installation of water and sanitation fittings, including tanks, pipes, and fixtures, with compliance to relevant standards.
• Provision for environmental management, waste disposal, and minimal disturbance to existing school operations.
• Quality assurance through testing, warranties, and certification as specified.
• Coordination with existing site services and infrastructure, ensuring safety and integrity during construction.

Skills Requirements

• Proven experience in constructing sanitation and water infrastructure, preferably within operational institutional settings.
• Competence in executing earthworks, concrete, masonry, waterproofing, roofing, carpentry, plumbing, and glazing trades according to South African standards.
• Ability to develop and implement health and safety plans in accordance with legal requirements.
• Capacity to manage site security, community liaison, and environmental considerations effectively.
• Knowledge of quality assurance procedures, testing, and certification processes.
• Strong project management skills to coordinate multiple trades, meet deadlines, and minimize operational disruptions.
• Effective communication skills for liaising with stakeholders, including the Principal Agent, school staff, and community representatives.
