Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a suitable service provider to deliver a Hatchery Management Short Course training for the personnel (programme coordinators) of the Food Resilience Unit. The training aims to enhance the knowledge and practical skills of participants in hatchery management, including incubation, post-hatch oversight, vaccination, bio-security, and related areas, to support food resilience initiatives.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Providing comprehensive Hatchery Management Short Course training to 25 personnel of the City of Johannesburg.
• Conducting an inspection and analysis of the hatchery facility for practical understanding.
• Preparing training materials covering basic hatchery management, bio-security, incubation oversight, vaccination, troubleshooting, post-hatch care, and marketing.
• Ensuring training is aligned with module standards and accredited with Agri-Seta.
• Delivering the training within a six-month period post-contract award, with specific milestones for sourcing, training, and reporting.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements for the service provider include:

• Possession of a Hatchery Management or Animal Husbandry qualification.
• Proof of accreditation with Agri-Seta and previous relevant work experience.
• Having NQF Level 3 certification in Hatchery Short Course Training from Agri-Seta.
• Ability to prepare and deliver training modules on:
• Preparation of hatchery units, incubation, and post-hatch oversight.
• Vaccination and bio-security management.
• Hatchery troubleshooting, hatchability analysis, and post-hatch care.
• Business registration, compliance, marketing, and certification processes.
• Conducting practical sessions and inspections at the hatchery facility.
• Providing training materials, attendance registers, and certification of completion.

Skills Requirements

The successful service provider must demonstrate:

• Relevant technical expertise in hatchery management, animal husbandry, or related fields.
• Experience in delivering accredited training programs, preferably with Agri-Seta.
• Ability to conduct practical inspections and analysis of hatchery facilities.
• Strong communication and instructional skills to effectively train personnel.
• Capability to prepare comprehensive training materials and assessments.
• Proven track record of delivering similar training projects within stipulated timeframes.
