Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to implement a Schools Sanitation Maintenance Programme, which involves the supply, delivery, and servicing of portable chemical toilets in schools across KwaZulu-Natal Province. The aim is to ensure that schools have adequate sanitation facilities that do not compromise the health and safety of learners and educators, especially in urgent intervention contexts.

Scope

The scope of the project includes:

• Supply of portable chemical toilets with specified dimensions and standards.
• Delivery of the units to designated schools across various districts.
• Regular servicing and maintenance of the toilets, including cleaning, waste disposal, and replenishment of supplies.
• Provision of units throughout the duration of the contract, ensuring continuous availability and functionality.
• Implementation and coordination with designated Programme Managers and personnel.

The project covers multiple districts such as Ugu, Umgungundlovu, Harry Gwala, King Cetshwayo, ILembe, Umkhanyakude, Zululand, Umzinyathi, Amajuba, Pinetown, Uthukela, Umlazi, and others, with specific unit capacities and cost structures outlined.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify that:

• The portable chemical toilets must conform to the designations provided, including dimensions and standards for health and safety.
• The units must be supplied with proper documentation, including contact details for designated personnel such as Programme Managers and Implementation Managers.
• The toilets must be serviced regularly, with servicing costs including delivery, waste disposal, and cleaning, as per the schedule.
• The units should be available throughout the contract period, with the capacity to meet the demand in each district.
• The supply and servicing must adhere to health and safety standards to prevent exposure to health hazards for learners and staff.
• The supplier must verify ownership and authenticity of the units and provide proof of ownership and capacity.
