Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to provide comprehensive services for the provision, maintenance, repair, and modification of hydrogen skid gas station systems at Grootvlei Power Station. The contract aims to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of hydrogen and CO2 systems over a period of 60 months, including supply of spares, plant modifications, and personnel training.

Scope of Work

The scope encompasses:

• Provision of hydrogen skid and gas station services on an "as and when required" basis for Units 1, 2, and 3.
• Maintenance activities during operation, including testing, calibration, inspection, and replacement of components such as dryers, skids, CO2 evaporators, analyzers, and associated instrumentation.
• Implementation of plant modifications, including system upgrades, purging procedures, and safety compliance.
• Supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of equipment and spares.
• Provision of technical documentation, drawings, manuals, and training for operational and maintenance personnel.
• Management of safety, health, and environmental (SHE) requirements, including risk assessments, incident reporting, and compliance with Eskom standards.
• Periodic review meetings and progress reporting throughout the contract duration.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Adherence to Eskom and international standards for hazardous location equipment (e.g., IA certificates, IECEx, or similar).
• Calibration and verification of all measuring and control instruments, including O2 analyzers, dew point sensors, pressure regulators, and transducers.
• Installation of secondary hydrogen purity meters and oil detection mechanisms with auto-shutoff features.
• Leak testing, pressure testing, and functional testing of all systems and components.
• Proper packaging, labeling, and documentation of all supplied spares, including certificates and manuals.
• Implementation of safety protocols for handling, purging, and storing hydrogen and CO2 gases, complying with Eskom Hydrogen Standard 240-56227413 and related standards.
• Provision of detailed drawings, C&I loop diagrams, and operational manuals.
• Training of Eskom personnel on system operation, maintenance, and safety procedures.
• Compliance with environmental legislation, including waste disposal and pollution prevention measures.
• Quality assurance and control measures aligned with ISO9001 and Eskom’s quality standards.
