Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a qualified service provider to refurbish four broiler structures and install fencing at Portion 28 (of Portion 17) of the farm Leeuwfontein 487 JR, located in the City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality, Gauteng Province. The project aims to upgrade existing structures and fencing to meet operational and safety standards, ensuring the farm's continued productivity and compliance with relevant regulations.

Scope

The scope of work includes, but is not limited to:

• Refurbishment of four broiler structures, including alterations, roof covering, ironmongery, painting, and internal repairs.
• Supply and installation of roof insulation, IBR roof sheeting, and associated materials.
• Replacement and repair of doors, wall cladding, and concrete flooring as needed.
• Installation of broiler equipment such as infrared lamps, tube feeders, nipple drinkers, thermometers, and feeding trays.
• Installation of a curtain winching system for the broiler houses.
• Construction and installation of fencing, including earthworks, concrete foundations, steel posts, wire mesh, gates, and associated accessories.
• Provision of temporary site facilities, safety measures, and compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Removal of debris and existing materials, and site restoration upon completion.

The scope also encompasses site-specific requirements, safety protocols, and adherence to standards specified in the tender documentation.

Technical Requirements

• All materials used must be new, SABS approved, and conform to South African National Standards (SANS).
• Construction work must comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993 and related regulations.
• Installation of roofing, insulation, and wall cladding must follow manufacturer specifications and standards such as SANS 10400.
• Existing structures must be carefully dismantled and repaired to prevent damage, with materials recovered stored or re-used as specified.
• All electrical and plumbing installations must meet relevant SANS codes and standards.
• Site safety policies and procedures must be updated and strictly adhered to, including PPE requirements for workers.
• Construction activities must be coordinated to minimize disruption and ensure safety for farm occupants and workers.

Skills and Qualifications Requirements

• Proven experience in poultry farm infrastructure refurbishment and fencing projects.
• Registration with the CIDB at a contractor grading designation of 2GB or higher.
• Qualified personnel for site supervision, health and safety management, and technical execution.
• Competence in handling construction materials, equipment, and installation techniques specific to poultry farm structures.
• Ability to prepare and implement health and safety plans in accordance with legal requirements.
• Capacity to coordinate multiple trades, manage site logistics, and ensure timely completion of works.
• Knowledge of South African standards and regulations relevant to building, roofing, electrical, and plumbing works.
