Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to upgrade the MCC components of two washwater pumps at the Underflow Pump Station, ensuring compliance with Johannesburg Water's specifications and legislative requirements. The project aims to enhance the reliability and safety of electrical equipment at the Northern Works facility.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Upgrade of the MCC components for 2 washwater pumps at the Underflow Pump Station as detailed in the Bill of Quantities (BOQ).
• Repair and maintenance of electrical equipment for Unit 4 Bioreactors and ET at Northern Works.
• Installation, testing, and commissioning of new MCC components, including contactors, relays, terminal blocks, cables, and associated accessories.
• Compliance with safety, health, and environmental standards throughout the project duration.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications mandate:

• Complete the BOQ in full to avoid disqualification.
• Provision of a detailed SHE (Safety, Health, Environment) plan, risk assessments, safe working procedures, and method statements.
• Proper electrical installation, including earthing, cable management, and compliance with electrical safety standards.
• Use of certified and tested electrical components rated for the application.
• Implementation of lockout/tagout procedures, testing, and commissioning protocols.
• Adherence to working at heights, confined space, and other safety procedures as per legislation.
• Submission of all required documentation before commencement, including medical fitness certificates, PPE, and SHE files.

Skills and Skills Requirements

The tender requires:

• Qualified electrical contractors with valid CIDB Grade 1 EP registration.
• Experienced personnel with relevant trade qualifications such as Fitter, Millwright, or Electrical Technician, with proven experience in MCC upgrades and electrical installations.
• Competent project managers and safety officers with appropriate certifications and experience in electrical projects.
• Ability to develop and implement SHE plans, risk assessments, and safe work procedures.
• Skilled in electrical testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of MCC panels and associated electrical systems.
• Capacity to conduct site inductions, toolbox talks, and ensure compliance with health and safety legislation.
