Overall Objectives

The primary aim of this tender is to secure a competent contractor to deliver comprehensive small works maintenance services within Eskom's North East Grid, covering civil, electrical, mechanical, and infrastructure works over a five-year period. The overarching goal is to ensure the reliable operation, safety, and integrity of substations and associated infrastructure by implementing maintenance, repair, upgrade, and operational activities that adhere to Eskom’s standards and legal requirements. Additionally, the tender emphasizes the importance of safety, health, environmental management, and quality (SHEQ) compliance, fostering continuous improvement and risk mitigation across all activities.

Scope of Work

The scope encompasses a wide range of maintenance, repair, and operational activities including:

• Civil works such as modifications to transformer foundations, fencing, site infrastructure, and civil repairs.
• Electrical works involving replacement and repair of high-risk equipment like cables, transformers, circuit breakers, and other electrical components in HV yards.
• Mechanical works including repairs, foundation works, and mechanical component maintenance.
• Fencing, security infrastructure, vegetation management, and site clearance activities.
• Operational activities such as patrolling, inspection, hazard identification, risk assessments, and emergency response planning.
• Community engagement, security management, handling hazardous animals, and managing operational hazards like working at heights, electrical contact, and environmental risks.
• Management of contractor and sub-contractor activities, ensuring compliance with Eskom standards during all project phases from planning to close-out.

Technical and Safety Requirements

The technical requirements focus on ensuring quality, safety, and environmental compliance through the following key elements:

• Design and Planning: Preparation of specifications, drawings, and schedules for civil and plant works, subject to Eskom approval.
