Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply and install twenty (20) new air conditioners, specifically mid-wall split units with heating and cooling capabilities, for the Jozini Malaria Control Programme. The project aims to replace existing units with modern, efficient air conditioning systems that meet specified technical standards and guarantee requirements.

Scope

The scope of the tender includes:

• Removal of twenty (20) existing air conditioners.
• Supply and installation of twenty (20) new mid-wall split air conditioners with remote controls, including units of various capacities (12,000 BTU, 18,000 BTU, and 24,000 BTU).
• Gas charging for all units.
• Electrical work involving the installation of circuit breakers, cables, and isolators, with specific requirements for cable length and type.
• Ensuring all units are mounted securely and meet safety and quality standards.
• Providing certification, guarantees, and compliance documentation for all installed units.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications for the air conditioners and installation include:

• Supply and installation of 20 mid-wall split units capable of heating and cooling.
• Units must be SABS (SANS) approved and gas-certified.
• Each unit must have its own breaker isolator and cable connection.
• Use existing cables for the boardroom units, with new cables only where necessary, with specific cable specifications (red, black, earth).
• Distance from the distribution board to units is approximately 30 meters.
• Supply and fit 15/20 Amp circuit breakers in the distribution board.
• All electrical work must be performed by registered electrical contractors.
• Gas charging and certification must be completed, with the use of megger testing during certification.
• Mount units securely to prevent falling.
• Guarantee period of at least one year for all units and installation work.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Registration with CIDB minimum grade 1 ME.
• Compliance with Central Supplier Database (CSD).
• Valid good standing certificate from the Department of Labour (Compensation Commissioner).
• Registration with the South African Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Board (SARACA).
• Valid gas handling certificates for technicians.
• Valid Public Liability Insurance with a minimum cover of R3,000,000.
• Provision of a manufacturer’s guarantee letter confirming a 5-year warranty on the air conditioners.
• Guarantee limitations from the manufacturer.
• Letter confirming that the air conditioners are SABS (SANS) approved.
• Agreement with fully registered electrical contractors, with all electrical work performed by qualified electricians.
