Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure services for the maintenance, inspection, cleaning, and servicing of the main kitchen extractor hoods at Victoria Mxenge Hospital. The aim is to ensure the proper functioning, safety, and compliance of kitchen extraction systems, including fire safety inspections and certification, in accordance with relevant standards and regulations.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Servicing of 3 kitchen extractor hoods on a once-off basis.
• Replacement of fire prevention device inspection door locks and provision of service keys.
• Inspection, cleaning, and maintenance of the extractor hoods, including grease removal, duct cleaning, and component checks.
• Electrical and mechanical inspections, including lighting, controls, motors, fans, and electrical connections.
• Provision of certification and certificates indicating compliance with SANS1850:2014 standards within 3 days of service completion.
• Adherence to safety, health, and environmental standards during service execution.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements encompass:

• Compliance with SANS1850:2014 standards for extractor hood inspection and certification.
• Use of SAS-approved cleaning chemicals for grease removal and duct cleaning.
• Inspection and testing of fire suppression systems, including fusible links and detectors.
• Electrical testing of motors, fans, and controls, including Megger testing.
• Proper sealing and installation of access panels for ductwork.
• Provision of detailed service reports, certificates, and photographic documentation post-service.
• Work to be conducted after hours between 15:30 and 20:00 to minimize disruption.

Skills and Skills Requirements

The tenderer must possess:

• CIDB registration with a minimum of category 1ME.
• SAQCC registration for fire inspection and certification.
• Qualified and experienced technicians trained in HVAC, duct cleaning, and fire safety systems.
• Knowledge of SANS1850:2014 standards and relevant health and safety regulations.
• Ability to prepare and submit detailed inspection, cleaning, and after-service reports.
• Competence in electrical testing, including Megger testing of motors and electrical connections.
• Experience in working within hospital environments with adherence to safety protocols.
• Capacity to work after hours and coordinate with hospital management to minimize operational disruptions.
