Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is the construction of the Upper Corana Senior Secondary School in Libode, specifically for Phase 2 of the project. The aim is to deliver a fully functional school facility that meets the specified standards and requirements outlined in the tender documentation.

Scope

The scope of work includes the construction activities necessary for the development of the school premises, including:

• Provision of provisional bills of quantities
• Site preparation and fencing of the contractor’s yard
• Construction of school buildings and associated infrastructure
• Implementation of site services such as water, electricity, and ablution facilities
• Protection and isolation of existing works and occupied premises
• Compliance with environmental and noise disturbance requirements

The scope also involves inspections of previous works, ensuring dimensional accuracy, and adherence to health and safety standards.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements are based on the latest edition of SANS 10845-3 (Standard conditions of tender) and include:

• Contractor grading of 7GB or higher as per CIDB standards
• Provision of construction information, with some details to be completed during the project
• Site fencing with lockable gates and proper site enclosure
• Protection of existing occupied premises and works in sections
• Compliance with environmental disturbance and noise level controls during school hours
• Provision of services such as water, electricity, and ablution facilities, with specified responsibilities

Skills Requirements

The tenderer must demonstrate:

• Registration with the CIDB at a grade of 7GB or higher, or the ability to register prior to evaluation
• Experience in similar construction projects, particularly in educational infrastructure
• Capability to interpret and comply with technical and contractual documentation
• Ability to manage site safety, environmental, and noise disturbance requirements
• Competence in coordinating site investigations, inspections, and quality assurance processes
