Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure the supply and delivery of fire hoses that comply with specified standards, ensuring effective firefighting capabilities for the municipality. The project aims to acquire high-quality, durable fire hoses with appropriate couplings, meeting safety and performance standards, to enhance firefighting operations within the jurisdiction.

Scope

The scope includes the procurement of:

• 35 units of 38mm diameter fire hoses, each 30 meters in length
• 25 units of 65mm diameter fire hoses, each 30 meters in length

The supply must adhere to British Standards (BS 6391 for hoses and BS 336 for couplings), with all hoses and couplings supplied with appropriate certification. The delivery location is Paarl, specifically to the Paarl fire station at Berg River Boulevard, with a specified delivery period.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications mandate that:

• Hoses must be British Standard BS 6391, Type 3, with 65mm and 38mm diameters, each 30 meters long.
• Hoses should be made of high tenacity synthetic yarn with a vulcanized high-grade Nitrile/PVC compound, ensuring high heat, abrasion, and chemical resistance.
• Hoses must have external ribs for abrasion resistance and ease of handling.
• Hoses should have a smooth inner surface with low friction loss, offering high contact resistance to acids, salts, oils, fuels, chemicals, ozone, and weathering.
• Couplings must comply with BS 336, be factory-fitted aluminium alloy, of British instantaneous construction, with serrated (ribbed) tails, and tested for compliance.
• All hoses and couplings must be supplied with certification documentation, and samples of at least 30cm must be provided for testing before bid closing.

Skills and Qualifications Requirements

Bidder qualifications include:

• Proven experience in supplying firefighting equipment, specifically fire hoses and couplings that meet BS standards.
• Certification of compliance with BS 6391 and BS 336 standards for all supplied hoses and couplings.
• Ability to provide samples for testing and certification documentation upon request.
• Registered on the Drakenstein Municipality’s supplier database.
• Demonstrated capacity to deliver within the specified timeframe and meet quality standards.
• Tax compliance with SARS, including valid VAT registration and tax clearance certificates.
