Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to engage a qualified Environmental Assessment Practitioner to develop and submit a comprehensive assessment report for the Himeville and Underberg Pre-directive project. The report should include incident investigation procedures, maintenance plans for wastewater treatment works, environmental impact assessments, remedial measures, communication protocols, and action plans with specified timeframes.

Scope

The scope of work encompasses:

• Developing an incident investigation and reporting procedure.
• Creating a detailed maintenance plan for Himeville and Underberg Waste Water Treatment Works (WWTW).
• Investigating impacts on the immediate environment, including streams, wetlands, and the Pholela River.
• Proposing remedial measures for impacted environments.
• Establishing communication protocols with affected parties.
• Formulating an action plan with clear timeframes.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Development of a comprehensive assessment report covering incident investigation, environmental impact, and remedial measures.
• Experience in conducting Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), with specific reference to at least 3-5 completed assessments and traceable references.
• Relevant experience in wetland rehabilitation or natural water resource management.
• Qualification and registration of personnel with the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions (SACNASP).
• Experience dealing with directives from the Department of Environmental Affairs or Department of Water and Sanitation.
• Provision of appointment letters, reference letters, CVs, and proof of qualifications and registration.

Skills Requirements

• Proven experience in environmental impact assessments and environmental management projects.
• Technical expertise in wetland rehabilitation and water resource management.
• Ability to develop detailed reports, action plans, and communication protocols.
• Strong project management skills to meet specified timeframes.

• Qualified scientific personnel with relevant experience and SACNASP registration.
