Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply and install new gas lines at the Nioh Building in Braamfontein, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient gas infrastructure. The project aims to upgrade existing gas systems, ensure safety standards are met, and facilitate operational needs within the building.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Supply and installation of new gas lines (including main and internal piping) for various gases such as acetylene, hydrogen, and others, with all necessary fittings, regulators, purge valves, and safety devices.
• Construction of gas cages, fencing, and associated steelworks.
• Installation of gas-related equipment such as pressure regulators, gauges, shut-off valves, and leak testing.
• Provision of electrical work for gas systems, including wiring, circuit breakers, and safety signage.
• Construction of associated infrastructure such as doors, ceilings, flooring, and finishes as per specifications.
• Coordination with hospital operations to ensure minimal disruption, including phased work and after-hours activities.
• Compliance with all relevant safety, health, and legislative requirements.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements encompass:

• Use of SABS-approved materials, including pipes, fittings, and electrical components.
• Installation of gas lines according to SA gas standards and relevant legislation.
• Leak testing and certification of the gas system upon completion.
• Construction of secure gas cages with appropriate signage and safety measures.
• Electrical installations to comply with SANS10142 and safety standards, including proper wiring, circuit protection, and labeling.
• Finishings including painting, tiling, glazing, and joinery as specified.
• Provision of guarantees, maintenance, and defect liability for 12 months post-installation.

Skills and Skills Requirements

The tender requires bidders to demonstrate:

• CIDB registration with a grading of 2ME or higher.
• Qualified and experienced personnel, including licensed plumbers, gas installation tradesmen, and electricians.
• Proven experience in similar gas installation projects, preferably in institutional or hospital environments.
• Capability to manage complex projects with coordination of multiple trades and compliance with safety regulations.
• Ability to prepare and submit all required documentation, including safety plans, compliance certificates, and project schedules.
• Availability of resources, including equipment, materials, and management staff, to complete the project within the stipulated timeframe.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, and best practices related to gas systems and building construction.
