Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure waste collection, disposal, and related services within the Matatiele CBD to ensure efficient, compliant, and environmentally responsible waste management. Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Provision of waste collection, transportation, and disposal services within the Matatiele CBD and specific surrounding areas.
• Supply and maintenance of necessary equipment and consumables, including waste collection tools, vehicles, and safety gear.
• Regular cleaning, sweeping, weed removal, grass cutting, and waste management at designated locations such as bus ranks, garages, and business outlets.
• Operational shifts to ensure continuous service during peak and holiday periods.
• Monitoring, reporting, and supervision to ensure service standards are met.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Availability of roadworthy compactor trucks and all necessary tools for waste collection and disposal.
• Provision of a qualified supervisor on-site daily, with experience in waste management.
• Use of certified waste management equipment, including waste bags, bins, and safety gear.
• Compliance with environmental and safety standards, including proper disposal at registered landfills.
• Implementation of effective supervision, reporting, and incident management systems.
• Adherence to specified service delivery timeframes, including daily collection and peak season operations.
• Registration with the Institute of Waste Management of Southern Africa (IMWSA) and compliance with relevant waste management standards.

Skills Requirements

The tender specifies the following skills and qualifications:

• Experience in waste collection, disposal, and environmental management, supported by proof of previous projects.
• Qualified and experienced supervisory staff with relevant CVs and evidence of past management roles.
• Registration or membership with the Institute of Waste Management of Southern Africa (IMWSA).
• Ability to operate and maintain waste collection vehicles and equipment safely and efficiently.
• Staff must be paid according to the minimum Southern African wage standards, with proof of employment and salary payments.
• Provision of PPE and employment of sufficient personnel to meet peak and routine service demands.
• Capability to provide timely reports, incident reports, and compliance documentation.
